Another show weekend has crept up on us and this time it was the Classic Ford show at Santa Pod with Southern branch. It was well timed this year as the weather was set to be scorching.

Saturday morning came and very quickly Loz and I were outside starting a marathon cleaning session which lasted nearly 11 hours all told but the cars did look amazing after being given the complete works!!!
Sunday morning and the alarm was going off at some ungodly hour. After a cuppa and some breakfast the cars were loaded up an we headed off.
We arrived at Santa Pod at about 8 and made our way onto the stand which was on the hardstanding like last year. We parked the cars up and had a mad hour to get them spruced up before it got to hot!!!!
I even managed to do my own wheels this time and Loz did look a tad surprised when I announced I had finished.
By this time the stand had filled up an looked really good with a good array of XR's all sparkling in the by now very hot sun so after saying hello to everybody we decided to go for a walk round the show and see if there were any goodies to be had
for our girls.

Time was cracking on and after spending a few hours looking round the numerous trade and club stands we returned to our cars, got the chairs out and settled down for a little rest, soaking up some rays (you have to grab them while you can).
We didn't get to the start line of the drag strip but the club stand was situated in the perfect place to watch just as the cars reached the timing gantry. There were some good times set but with the temperature so high they probably weren't personal bests.
We spent more time chatting with everybody and having a giggle until it was time to think about heading home. Unfortunately this show seemed to be more popular than ever causing a huge traffic jam. The queue to leave the grounds took quite a long time to clear so we decided to just wait it.
Lastly we took the opportunity to get some pictures of our cars under the Santa Pod sign on the timing gantry which worked superbly.
We finally left at about half six and by the time we got back home it was a case of empty the car and collapse with a cuppa.

This show is always a great one to attend with plenty to see and do. The weather was fantastic and the atmosphere relaxed. Definitely one to attend next year if you get the chance.
