The first show this season that had sunshine (it did have an hour of rain but that didnt ruin a thing).
We had a good 5 cars booked for this show but unfortunately circumstances meant that we ended up with three in attendance. Dave Metcalf (Mecky) joined us from the North East branch with his red XR2, there was me with my XR2i and there was Stuart Brock with his XR3i.
Tim also joined us although his method of transport was put into hiding... a Citreon AX as his XR4 is not yet roadworthy.
Sorry to see Brian couldnt make it with his Red XR3i, I have been told he made it as far as Truro before a wire to the alternator sent him home on a flat bed. Next year we'll be on emergancy call out to you mate.
While signing in I decided to tick the box entering my car for judging (it was free so I thought it would be a giggle).
By the time I had walked back to the car I had convinced myself it was a bad idea. I spoke to the guys about it and talked them into going for it too.
We covered three classes between us:
My 2i in the Pre '95 class
The 3i in the Pre '90 class
and the XR2 in the Pre '85 class
All the cars were cleaned up ready so all we had to do was wait to be called into the arena...
The results proved even better! I knew I wouldnt get anything as my tailgate is in desperate need of replacing but both Mecky & Stuart came out very well indeed.
Stuart got 1st in his class
Mecky came 1st & also won the trophy for the longest distance travelled (as well as a golf kit in the prize draw).
There is always one!!!
Stuart Managed to lock his car with the keys still in the ignition... being the friendly club we are muchos ribbing was in order.
Big thanks to Roy Atkinson who saved the day with his RAC membership.
By the way... good to meet you again Roy, I loved talking to you & getting to know you a little better. Look forward to seeing you again at another show.
