Eurofest 2007
Track days & events seem to be getting more & more popular within the club & the South West branch seems to be more hooked than most so it was only right we supported them for this event.

Steve & I made our way up to Castle Coombe in Steves track car (which I can assure you is not for anyone with very sensitive ears... loud is not the word). We got there a little earlier than everyone else so decided to find the local petrol station... this was where we made a bit of a mistake. Firstly it turns out that village life doesnt seem to get going til midday & then finding our way back from said petrol station (when we gave up) proved a tiny bit tricky. In fact we ended up on a completely wrong road.... yes thats right... we got lost on a straight bit of road!!!
When we realised our error we were back at the track in no time (after a few dodgy turning manoevers and a complete trip round a roundabout).

Once parked up it was a mission to get the car empty, ready to put it through its paces. After noise tests, signing in & driver briefings the guys were ready to get going.

Matt & Mark from the South West branch were keen to get as much track time in as possible (& who can blame them) so it wasnt long before the rest of us were watching from the sidelines.

Mark, when released onto the track put on a very good performance. Mark has put a lot of time in learning the track & the best way of driving it, the experience certainly shows. It wasnt long before he was handing out hints & tips to the other guys.

Steve was to join them for their next session & soon the all three were representing  us well & doing us proud.

One of the highlights of the day was a track session totally dedicated to the drifters. What a session!!! It did lead to a few dicey moments and a good few laughs but when the session was over all the drivers got an applause & a cheer... no more than a certain Cossie driver whos tyre unfortunately blew out but he left with a cheer normally reserved for heros. I must admit he was showing the other drifters how it should be done.

There was so many cars on display too, it took a good while to look round but none the less we plodded round, cameras in hand.

All in all a cracking day in lovely weather again & we all had a good laugh... especially when they all started picking on yours truely..... again.
Steves weapon of choice... pretty distinctive, especially on track
Matt relaxing before his first track session with Becks by his side
Marks XR3i raring to goBecks with the track car both Matt & her use for their track time fix
If you look very very closely you can see a few South West branch members caught daydreaming..... but surely that wouldnt tempt you away from an XR??? Would it???
Watching the action take place... we had the perfect vantage point for watching the fast straight & the dicey cornering moves.

Our chosen spot was on Camp Corner.
Steve out on track playing nicely with all the other boys & girls.

His Escort standing out nicely making it easy to spot.
Hints & tips on how to go faster... Mark parting with valuable information to a captive audience.
Armed with a new cleaning kit Loz made an attemp to clean up russ's filthy sense of humour... but failed miserably
