Fiesta In The Park 2009
It's been a long winter with plenty of rain and snow but it hasn't stopped us working hard on our cars, getting them ready for this years show season.
The scary thing is that Fiesta In The Park crept up on us fast and a lot of us were left to have a mad dash, putting the finishing touches to our XRs.

Unfortunately for Loz & I the day before the show was cold & wet but it didn't stop us.
At one point we were sat in front of my XR4x4 with the headlamp off, replacing a part in the pouring rain. The part in question wasn't defective... it was just rusty.

The next morning the alarm was soon going off. We dragged ourselves out of bed and were soon on our way to Huntingdon racecourse.
Unfortunately the weather was already showing us what it had in store for the rest of the day, and that was wet stuff.

Neil & Graham from Southern branch greeted us as we arrived, pointing us to our spot.
The stand was already laid out and was just waiting for the cars to arrive to fill it, this didn't take long and despite the on off rain the stand was soon bustling.

Unfortunately our branch was short on cars. Marc & Abi were due to come up in Marcs Cab but a last minute fueling problem meant the Cab had to stay home. A small problem like that doesn't keep a good member down though, instead of entering concours, Marc & Abi arrived in their new Focus as general public... free of the worries of polishing and buffing.

The rain came in hard and lasted til lunch time so most of us sheltered in the club gazebo and caught up with everything that people had been up to since we last saw them.

Eventually the sun decided to turn up an we had a good 4 hours of rather warm sun which was a welcome sight. Everybody emerged from their hiding places and carried on with the chatting and cleaning.

The concours cars were all stunning and I for one would have a hard time doing the judges job!!

We only had a quick walk round the trade stalls and the other club stand. There was just so many people to talk to & so many spares to buy & sell within ourselves.

A special mention must go to the charity cake sale, for the second year running it was a huge success and the cakes on offer were delicious! Thank you to everyone involved.

The day was soon coming to an end, the trophies were awarded and the show ground was starting to empty, this left us with the job of taking down the two gazebos in the now howling wind. It did prove interesting but thankfully disaster free.

Lastly... home.
