Llandow Track Day 2008
XR members out on track
Other cars out on track
Another early start to get maximum time on the track. This time I decided we did not need the luxury of a trailer as the track car is proving virtually invincible (and it now has a proper gearbox in it). We left at about 5.30am a bit bleary eyed but it meant we made good time and got to the track ready for 8-8.15am.
We met up with some members from the South West Branch (Matt & Becky) and were joined midday by Mark W.

We did the usual safety checks and weight reduction procedures ready to get down to business before undergoing the usual briefings and warm up / practice laps.

The atmosphere at this track is very relaxed although their approach to safety was impressive. This was our chance to let off some steam and have a bit of fun, especially as there were fellow XR members to compete against.

Although the track car hasn't got the biggest engine (and is in fact pretty much standard) I went all out & pushed it really hard in order to get a bit of lapping action.
At one point I did manage to push it a little too hard though as I may have "nudged" the traffic cones away from their designated spot... oops.

Matt started to back off a bit as the day progressed as there were a few noises that had started to worry him and the potential of knackering a wheel bearing was playing on his mind. I however just kept on going (know that the track car just wont die).
Eventually something had to give and as the day was drawing to a close my brakes were finally giving up having been worked hard all day (and we did need some brakes for getting home again).

All in all it was a good day with most of the time spent out on track... I'm definitely getting addicted to this kinda fun. Roll on the next one!
