Castle Combe 2009
The day started well despite a malfunctioning alarm clock. Steve and I set out from Exeter to meet up with Brian a bit further up the M5 before driving the rest of the way together. Just before coming off the M4 a purple streak shot past us, eventually it slowed down so we could catch up adding Marc & Abi to our convoy.

We got into the grounds and it wasn't long before more club cars were joining us. We ended up with 18 cars on the stand, all from Devon & Cornwall branch, South Wales branch and the South West branch. We certainly filled the space given to us for the stand.

All the shows we do seem to go by so fast, this one was no exception. There is so much to watch and do and take part in that you never manage to fit it all in.
After the cars were parked up we cracked on with the cleaning and catching up with everyone. I got to meet a couple of really friendly people who wanted to join the club and our antics which is great.
We had our fair share of mishaps before midday, Nigel and Marcia needed a jump at the entrance to the grounds, Gaf ended up with a small electrical fire which ended up in a lot of time spent making repairs and Mark sadly had a head gasket failure before he managed to get a full track session in. All these incidents didn't impact on the day at all though, everyone had a good time and enjoyed every minute.

All of us at some point in the day managed to catch some track action, especially the drifting which was a huge crowd pleaser.
The parade lap was short this year, unlike 8-9 laps like before the cars only went round for 1 before coming back off again which did suprise us but as always the participation level was high along with the standard of cars.
A few of us managed to spend our wallet contents at the trade stands, mainly on cleaning products I believe.
The amount of club cars on display was impressive and it took hours to get a look at all of them, the batteries on my camera & camcorder were nearly flat by the end of the day.

Thank you to everyone who came, even if it was without you XR. The club had a great presence and the stand was busy all day. All in all a huge success.
