This show is now a firm favourite for many XROC branches and as usual we made our annual pilgrimage to Castle Combe to enjoy a little Octane-orientated fun.
Jaffa had finished a night shift at work and had no time to sleep before we headed out so he resorted to sleeping in the car on the way. He was rudely awakened as his head lunged towards the dash when I braked hard coming off the M4.

As always the weather was exceptionally hot, some of us took to slapping on the sun cream while others (naming no names) resorted to eating a large number of ice creams throughout the day.

As always there was a great turnout with a wide variety of Fords in both modified & standard formats. Best of all the smell of polish mingled with the smell of petrol & oil in the air as track cars headed out to do what they do best.

We were allocated the largest space yet and it was in prime position for watching the parade lap, track action and of course the drifting. As the day progressed we found out that the drifting has become so popular we were to be treated to two sessions instead of the usual one.

The banter and friendly chit chat amongst members was the same as always and again there were a few parts exchanges going on.

A Vauxhall air freshener appeared in Annemarie & Kev's Cabriolet and we couldn't let that one pass us by... a good ribbing was dished out.

It was great to have Russ return to our ranks after a few years away (he just couldn't cope without us obviously). Unfortunately it did mean that together with Nigel & myself the tone was lowered quite a bit as the dirty jokes and dubious conversation picked up. It was like old times.

Jaffa was caught relaxing with his eyes closed a few times but that was understandable.

Drift Action:
As we were at the opposite end of the track we decided to watch the drifting from somewhere different and it didn't disappoint. We were treated to copious amounts of smoke, a coating of bits of rubber and a fair number of adrenalin rushes as we applauded some impressive moves and cheering the mishaps too.

We all agreed that this was the best drifting at RS Combe yet with more vehicles out on track including a Nissan Micra!!!
The showmanship of the drifters was excellent and they seemed keen on giving the crowd exactly what they wanted.
I cannot even begin to describe the experience so I will share photos and video & let you work it out for yourself.... sit back and enjoy.
